MANIFESTO & GOALS

Freedom, Peace, and Justice

In solidarity with Sudan: you will not walk alone

The demonstrations that erupted in December 2018 in Sudan after food shortages and a rise in the price of fuel and bread did not subside even following the February 22, 2019, state of emergency declaration, the first in two decades, and intensified regime pressure against demonstrators. After Al-Bashir was ousted on 11 April, a hybrid government was formed after the signing of the constitutional charter. Supreme Council and executive council with an unclear perspective of the legislative body.

Extensive efforts have been made to conclude a peace deal with some armed struggle movements in Sudan and maintain their participation in the government. The recently formed government is fragile and facing major issues of economic crises, insecurity, and political challenges, and many other issues that threaten democratic transfer In Sudan. The democratic transformation will eventually lead to the stability and development of war thorn regions and add to stability in conflict zones. Therefore, as a free society, we are taking the initiative to support the democratic transfer in Sudan and extensively engage with different actors and stakeholders who can actively join the campaign for democratisation and democratic transfer in Sudan.

The Sudanese community in lower Saxony in Germany; UMBAJA and German-African Association for Knowledge Transfer (GAAKT) in cooperation with The Association of Development Policy Lower Saxony is launching the campaign SOLIDAN in Solidarity with the people of Sudan, that seeks democratic transfer and stability in the country. We extend our appeal to all freedom fighters, democracy supporters, and peace-builders to join and support our campaign.

SOLIDAN is an informative and advocative campaign aims to:
  • Advocate for power-sharing of women and youth in all decision making positions.
  • Provide moral, political, social, and economic support and empowerment of the people of Sudan and back them in their struggles for building a democratic country.
  • Promote the values of dialogue, tolerances, peaceful co-existence, and appreciate the diversity.
  • Contribute to justice pursuing, the ongoing post-conflict reconstruction, and rehabilitation process in Sudan.
  • Mobilise all Sudanese diaspora to come together in this unique and epic deed for the interest of democracy, peace building, and development in Sudan.

The campaign initiators are looking forward to a local, national, and international endorsement and solidarity to/with Sudanese people from all people without exception.
